Evelyn is the very reliable elder sister, who looks out for her younger one. She is smart, disciplined and the pride of their father’s eyes, a model child. Roselyn, the younger one, is rebellious, unserious, and a consistent academic failure. This continues through most of their childhood. Evelyn finished secondary school in flying colours, but when the day arrives for her to write JAMB, their father is hit with a stroke and thus begins a life of misfortunes and delays for Evelyn. She has to pause her education to fend for the family as the older one. When she can eventually go to the University, Roselyn is done with Secondary school and they go together. In the time since Evelyn is without a University admission, her good friend and crush, Lanre Shabba has left for the UK. Lanre Shabba also doubles as Roselyn’s sworn enemy.
